Hi! I'm Ahreum.

I am a product manager and UX researcher at Samsung Electronics. I currently conduct user research on smart appliances, particularly how people interact with smart fridges in physical space (e.g., home, kitchen). Based on the understanding of user needs and problems via user research and market research, I develop product strategies and solutions that could improve user experience with smart appliances. Based on my interdisciplinary background, I have tried to play a critical role in designing and integrating advanced technologies that maximize user value.

Before joining Samsung Electronics, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland and Purdue University.

At the University of Eastern Finland, I worked with Dr. Roman Bednarik to investigate how new technologies would reconfigure the interaction between surgical teams in the operating room. At Purdue University, I was lucky to work with Dr. Austin Toombs , Dr. Colin Gray , and Dr. Byung-Cheol Min who had interdisciplinary backgrounds, HCI, Design, and Robotics. Based on the close collaboration, I examined the social value of communities in co-spaces (e.g., co-living, co-working, co-housing spaces) and how technologies (i.e., multi-robots) can be designed to better support the experience of communities in the co-spaces.

I earned my Ph.D. and BEng degrees in Industrial Engineering from Hanyang University.

I'm alumni of IMAGINE X Lab (currently A&Tech) at Hanyang University.
